The word raga literally means colour. The state of raga is that a listener’s heart and mind becomes colored or decorated very thoroughly by the raga due to his deep predilection for it. The coloring of the heart and the strong attachment that is established in the heart when the perception becomes decorated in this way is known as raga. Indian classical music is coloured by the emotions and moods defined by innumerable ragas that are closely associated with the various times of the day or the seasons of the year.

We have launched our blogspot http://musicalhues.blogspot.com/ which gives an insight on the rich hues of Indian Classical Music and its soul stirring facets with emphasis on artists and their music who have transcended all barriers and contributed beyond words.

The first such tinge is that of Pandit Nikhil Bannerjee, the sitar maestro who has decorated the world of music with such beautiful colours and his meditative music aptly reaching all rasikas on his 22nd anniversary.
