Our sentiments of sympathy to TVS and his family.
Here was a vidvAn who kept a low profile but helped keep the magnificent music of MMI alive by following him in his shadow but keeping his music aglow--by guiding another great vidvAn, his own son and his grandchildren too, I would think.
He has joined his beloved brother (in-law) in heaven. May they together bless the family and musicians everywhere with richer musical expressions...

Sri Vembu Iyer always kept a low profile. But once in Mumbai, due to sudden illness of MMI, he gave a solo recital to the accompaniement of Lalgudi. Lalgudi often quotes this recital as one of his best concerts.
While receiving the Sangeetha Choodamani award at KGS Chennai, TVS elaborated on the influence of his father in shaping his approach not only in musical field but in the entirety of his life. Certainly Vembu Iyer had shaped a gentleman and role model musician through TVS.

Today there was an article in "The HIndu" on Shri.Vembu Iyer. Simply excellant. If someone could upload this here, woule be much useful to all our friends. A small story which appears in this. (real)..
" Once MMI was giving a live concert, one fly went in to his mouth. He could not spit it out as it was embarassing and that to in the middle of the concert. Shri Vembu Iyer immediately showed his hands and requested MMI to spit in his hands. He did so and shri Vembu Iyer washed his hands and came back".
My Goodness. Iam unmoved for some time thinking of Shri VI's gesture.
