Thanjavooran,
Just saw this thread. Thanks a lot for writing about the concert. I bet a number of people who attended the concert and watched the streaming did so because of your announcing it here.
I watched it too, of course. Gayathri Girish and the accompanying artistes did a great job of honoring vidwan Sri. Sankarasivam, a grand man of sterling qualities whom I had great respect, admiration and affection for. What better venue to have for this than Naada Inbam's Raga Sudha Hall! After all, the release of four out of my CDs were held there and my bonds with the venue and folks there is very special.
As for Gayathri Girish, my respect for her musical acumen and her scholarly approach grows as time goes by. We both had a chat about this event a few years ago in the course of a conversation and last year when we met, I wanted to hold the concert soon enough. What time could have been better than at the start of the season at Raga Sudha while it celebrates the founder, a super rasikA and a catalyst he was in bringing carnatic music to all!
So, with or without my being in Chennai this year, I wanted the event to happen. Thanks to Gayathri Girish who did a grand job of the humble tribute I wanted to pay vidwan Sankarasivam! It was a rich concert in content and presentation which paid homage to the parama guru HMB, his precious student and his illustrious student TNS, all in one go! I do hope more rasikAs listen to the concert and savor it as I did
Rajesh, I wish I had let you know the day and the time of the concert
Nick,
Couldn't you make it to the concert--at least at the end?

Thanks. I did Nick, but you know me, I have to wait till someone helps me in opening the enclosure to find the relevant pictures
A pity, I couldn't let more folks know about Gayathri Girish's concert in advance. Anyhow, it's here to see and listen to, however busy all are in attending the season's concert. Malathi missed it, so did others. When I say others, I also mean others from abroad. We expect reviews from those serious rasikAs as well. Rajesh, Nick and others...when you run into them, please ask them to share with us their musical experiences. Photos too, of course, when it comes to one of them!
Malathi, I was there the last few years, and hope to be there for the next season, God granting!
