ʽSvanubhavaʼ (spelt swaa-nu-bha-va) is an event (first of its kind) by Matrka and YACM (Youth Association for Classical Music), exclusively for students of this great form of art. Here, as part of the event, will be concerts, lec-dems, lec-cons, educative programmes, movie reels, panel discussions, face to face conversation sessions with artists, listening sessions etc.

Through this event, we wish to expose music students to more programmes, both educative and fun, and also to give students of music an opportunity to meet and interact with each other and enjoy the experience of this wonderful music. Every programme will be very interactive in nature giving the students an opportunity to ask questions and learn from many great artists.

All the events organized are from the ideas that were received from the music students of the three institutions; hence, they get an opportunity to listen to their favourite artistes exclusively for themselves.

This is event, which is open to ALL music students. Lunch will also be provided on all 6 days.

The first 2 days (5th and 6th August) will be held at the Kalakshethra, the next 2 days (7th and 8th) at The Adayar Government Music College, and the last 2 days (9th and 10th) at The Music Academy, Madras. The timings for the event will be from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

This looks to be a very interesting music festival. I hope it can be recorded (video and/or audio) so that non-Chennaites can also be involved.

Hi,

@mohan : Thanks a lot.We will try to work video recordings. We might call people from other states from next year, depending on the response this time.

@Puranvasu : Thanks a lot.

Yeah if this is a success, then we can have it every year.We want to bring the awareness about our yesteryear artists(and stalwarts) to the students and that is why we have those presentations and talks.
Also this program up specially for the music students and most of the concerts,lec-dems are special requests from the students. So the students will get the best of it!!

I din said abt d accompaniment today...very sorry to say tis later...The artistes accompanied for neyveli snahanagopalan sir are Pakkala Ramdass sir(violin), Mannarkoil J Balaj siri(mridhangam), BS Purushotham sir kanjira). All hese accompanimens seems to be very apt 1 for todays program....Really I enjoyed d program very much..Though they were given a vry short tym for thani, thani korvai was too gud n xcellent.
And for vijay siva sir's concert, he was accompanied by
RK Shriram Kumar, J Vaidhyanathan.
R.K Shriram Kumar sir's and vaidhyanahan sir's were a wonderful performance.
Had a very nice experience today.....

Hi Sangeetha,

Thanks a lot for your support. We will plan it for every year.(And you can call me ethi :)...no "sir" pls :) )

The mridangist for today's concert was Trichur Narendran Sir and violinist today was H.D.Sridhar sir.

The mridangist played a short thani today. The mohara (Pre-final stage) of the thani avarthanam was in thisra nadai. The korvai was a simple korvai with the calculation as 33(6+6+6+5+5+5),which when played for 3 rounds comes to the edupu of the song (3 units,to make it simple i have named it as units :) after having started from samam. The edupu was "Vedha Siro" in samajavaragamana krithi in hindolam ragam).

Regarding your question, the thani is played in this format and it is accepted like that. As Raghuprasad sir mentioned, some things are accepted by eyes, though we see all, and also only few things are accepted by ears, though we hear so many things. That way, the pattern of thani avarthanam is framed in this format and it is accepted like this.Hope I have answered you.(This question was discussed in the festival and the answer what i have given is the answer mentioned by Raghuprasad sir of Kalakshethra)

The program has been really good in so far as I attended. The TNS concert, the violin quartet and several lec dems and video presentations were all good. Hope this is arranged every year. The organization is praiseworthy indeed.
