Param,
THANKS for the u/l of the 'sundarakAndam'!
My granfather used to read the entire rAmAyaNA - he would start on rAma navamI and proceed at a pace that made sense only to him. My grandmother did not have the patience to either read with/or listen to him! But she would always participate for the sundarakAndam readings...so I wanted to know why: she said that this kAndam had the whole rAmAyaNa in it: hanumAn recites the first part to gain sItA's confidence and the remainder is revealed to the demoness trijaTA in a dream - I am not sure if she was right, but if she was, then, thanks for posting the rAmAyaNa in a nutshell!

CML and Ravi,

Thanks for the appreciation. Anything that I find worth a second hearing will be uploaded by me. The reason for the delay is that all the stuff kept ready is in my home pc and the ******* machine refuses to work. Hopefully an engineer will arrive on Sunday to take a look at it. And if things are resolved great for all of us. These uploads I am doing from the office.

Here is Hanuman Chalisa for you - yet again something I dl last week .

Enjoy

Param ;)

Param,
THANKS a TON for the chAlIsA....one of my favorites. Actually, I love all of tulsI's comps.
Who is the singer? This is more in 'chaupAyI' style (not exactly, but close enough) that 'tulsI's' compositions are traditionally sung - I LOVE it. Very different from the one many of us 'madrasIs' are familar with: the MSS version in rAgamAlikA which is also very soothing and pleasing.
If you have anymore stuff in hindi, please do u/l - it is the easiest language for me to follow after english.
shat kOti dhanyavAd!

Param

The devotional pieces are indeed part of psychotherapy. They bring peace and comfort to the troubled minds and also get focussed on the divinity. We should have more such materials made available freely. Harikathas fall in this category and this artform is getting lost! The youngsters are totally out of touch with our puranas with a 'dravidian' educational system leaving them rudderless in an atheistic buncombe!

I have a request! Many of us would love to accompany bhajans and devotionals on makeshift tablas (or even 'thaalam' (eating plates)). It is a natural urge. The rhythms are easy but the technique has to be learned. When you get some time could you give a short course on this topic. Of course the cyber vidyalaya is scholarly and serious. But this is like light music; call it light laya! Much obliged!

Hmm.. those Sant Tulasidas Dohas...I love those, and I used to learn them by heart in my school days...isn't it in Avadhi?
Hindi has more Persian language influence..

Thank you param Am just listening to the 5th sarga. Will finish the rest before I rtire today. Do you have the rest? (there are 68 sargas in the sundara kANDa!) Am I being greedy?
---- This is more in 'chaupAyI' style (not exactly, but close enough) that 'tulsI's' compositions are traditionally sung - I LOVE it....

Please explain in detail what the chaupAyi style is for all our benefit.

DRS/Suji Ram,
chaupAyI is typically 4 lines: Traditionally, rAmcharitmAnas is sung with every 4 lines making a unit and the music has a certain cadence to it: if you get a chance to listen to Mukesh singing the entire r.c.mAnas, you will understand it right away. One of my good friends at school on our antAksharI team used to do a great job with chaupAyI singing. If possible, I will try and post a sample.
And yes, DRS: your inference is perfect: I am a proud KV product - a recent Times of India survey has declared that the KVs are in the top 50 educational institutions in the country (schools, colleges, IITs, universities and all combined) so I am glad that others feel the way I do! (our theme song after all was 'bhArat kA swarNim gaurav kEndriya vidyAlay lAyEgA, takshashilA nAlandA kA itihAs laut kar lAyEgA'!)

I just placed an order last week for a few books on Sri Rudram from Giri trading to be shipped to Fremont, California, and missed this one.

dear sir,
Thaitthariyopanishad, chapter-4 (chaturtha prasna) starts with
ambasya pare. pl. refer vol.1 of Thaitthariya mantra kosa by
srirama krishna mutt, mylapore, chennai pp- 21 to 59. due to
its volume, fourth chapter is not normally taught to students
in many places. most of the suktas are there in this chapter
only. i am sorry if i have confused the matter. so far as the
mp3 format of this chapter is concerned, it cannot be uploaded
as cassettees are available commercially.
