Thamburas

Post by Sundara Rajan »

I notice some vocal artists using TWO thamburas behind and also an electronic one in the front.
Where is the need for TWO thamburas? What if there is even a slight variation in their "sruthies" ?!

I have wondered the same. I almost think we have discussed it here before. We have discussed various aspects of tambura. Uday?

We the audience cannot hear the real ones, we can only hear the emulated one. It seems, though, as they occasionally retune them, that the vocalists can hear them.
