திருவெண்காடு புனிதம் வாய்ந்தது. காசியைப் போன்றே, இந்தத் தலத்தின் காவிரி ஸ்நான கட்டத்துக்கு மணிகர்ணிகை என்று பெயர்.
இங்கு கோயில் கொண்டிருப் பவர் ஸ்ரீஸ்வேதாரண்யேஸ்வரர்; அம்பாள்- ஸ்ரீபிரம்ம வித்யாம் பிகை. புதன் தலமான இங்குதான், சிறுத்தொண்ட நாயனாரின் மனைவி வெண்காட்டு நங்கை அவதரித்தாராம். ஆலயக் குளக் கரையில் உள்ள ஆலமரமும், அதனடியில் உள்ள ருத்ர பாதமும் விசேஷமானவை. இந்தத் தலத்தில் மூதாதையருக்கு சிராத்தம் செய்து, ருத்ர பாதத்தில் பிண்டம் அளிப்பது மிகச்சிறப்பு!

* This is the shrine representing "Buda" planet "mercury"- located near Tanjore South India.
* Like Benaras this shrine has "snana Ghatta" (the river bank where sacred bathing is done &rituals are performed propitiating the forefathers .)
*The presiding Deity ---Sri Swetharanyeshwar.(SIVA).
* Consort ----Sri Brahma Vidyambikai.
The tree in the banks of the river and "Rudrapathra" The sacred vessel) are very very significant.
This place is suitable for offering homage (ceremony in remembrance)to the forefathers and the PINDA (sacred rice which has to be reached to them in their abode transmitted through the power/vehicle of Mantra) being offered (through a special purpose instrument /vessel) being offered through "RUDRA vessel"
