Ragam Sisters - Sivaranjani & Nalinakanthi

Post by sureshvv »

Have not seen them very much lately in the kuchery circuit in Chennai. Heard them on FM Gold this morning and it was an hour of well presented great music including alapanas in chala nattai and bhairavi.

Please post some more information about them if you have any.

Yes.I too listened and they sang well. Both the ragams were sung well and Edhayya gati and Upacharamu (rupakam)were well sung.

They are the daughters of one of the ThErezhundhUr sisters,I think.

rAgam Sisters -- V. Sivaranjani and V Nalinakanthi -- are grand daughters of Mayavaram Sri Viswanatha Saasthrigal. They learnt music initially from their mother Therazhandhur Smt. Kamala Venkataraman, and subsequently from Sri S. Rajam.
