I purchased this 3 volume set released recently. It is quite exhaustive and covers many musicians, raga scales and musical topics including film music and mainly Hindustani music. Unfortunately I was disappointed to find no entry for Ali Akbar Khan!
But by and large it is very useful and particularly so for raga scales. I think the information is largely drawn from Subba Rao's Raga Nidhi (MA) and Bhatkhande's classification.

Interesting. Unfortunately, we just missed the Chennai Book Fair, although we'd planned to go, where I would probably have had a look at it. I am sad, though, that Carnatic does not get equal prominence with HM.
