Hi,

Please listen to this one minute snippet: http://www.mediafire.com/file/uwogmgyjz ... Thavam.mp3

The first phrase was just two notes, I could not yet see the rAgA.
The second phrase made me think, 'Intha SaukhyamaninE ?' And the third phrase made me say Kapi.

I need someone to help me decode the swarams in the first three phrases, please. I am trying to go further; but trying to identify swarams is a lot more difficult than just identifying the ragams :(

thanks.

I could be wrong:
1. n n s... (n is N3 i.e. kakali nishada,, kApi can use both nishada)
2. n s /pa (m)g r....
3. not sure but starts with ri and ends again with N3 with emphasis on G2 in the middle.

Thanks Arun. What do '()' indicate?

/ and for slides.

() as in incidental/anuswara swara - on second thought I think my usage of it here is possibly inaccurate and confuses the issue. So (m)g should simply be mg as in a single note starting with ma and continued as a slide down to ga.

Actually the /p part is a slide that I think starts from ri where ri could be classified as an anuswara. So that would be n s (r)/p ...

1. N3 N3 S... (to the 7th second)
2. N S RP,M,G...... (to 00:12)
3. G,,,M P,DP MP, (??) R, R, (to 00:15)
4. P N S R M P G2, R M M P,,,, (to 00:23)

I may well be mistaken about all of this, though.
