Friends, At tie outset, I would like to assure you that I have absolutely no intention to break into your citadel, which is not my forte.”Kavithaigal” was never in my syllabus and I doubt if I can develop a taste for it now. Nor will I attempt to pen few lines, seeing you all doing it as I still remember a Tamil saying “kAna mayilAda kaNdirunda vAnkozi danum aduvAga tannai pAvithu, dan polla ciragai viritthu AdinArpOlume.......” and do not want to end up in the dinner plate of somebody, although Thanksgiving is still few months away. I happen to remember few lines of two beautiful Tamil songs written by by my teacher Sri N.Subramania Iyer in1930s one in praise of Mother and the other a welcome to His Holiness Chandrasekarendra saraswathi, on his first visitt to Mylapore..I am fondly hoping that a few of my thirty classmates in P.S.Higher Elementary School in Mylapore, especialy the musically talentedM.R.Balasubramanian, A.G Venkataraya Sastry, M.S. And S, Janakiraman and the descendants of Subramania Iyer (I know one of his grand daughter is in Phoneix AZ) will be browsing the net and visit Rasikas .org
and see the reference to the two beautiful songs and remember to share with us. It revives nostalgic memories in me to go back 80 years to some of the good works of a school teacher who inspite of his abysmal financial conditions, was creative enough to write such beautiful songs. In those days, people chose teaching profession ,especially in elementary schools,as a last chice.
I have uploaded a file of myself (!) rendering the portion I still remember with an apology to friends for the

CML, I thought that i had stated that the few lines I rendered were from couple of songs penned by my teacher about 80 years ago and I am fondly expecting some survivors of my class to come to my rescue by remembering those songs and advising me Re my second language in school , it was sanskrit upto high school and then french in college level as I had planned to go to U.K for higher studies (It was the trend then) but war clouds scuttled my plans
