Could someone give me a copy of Sri Ganesthparam by dikshitar, in Veenadhari. I have the same song in ardhra desi. So Iam looking for its veenadhari version. Thanks a ton

Kiran,

I do not know Sanskrit (or Hindi for that matter) but like the language! Is it that you want a version played on the Veena or anything else? I need not say that the krithi is rendered in raag Veena Vaadhini.

veenadhari is a raagam. It is a janya of Chakravaakam. Its swaras are
S ri Ga pa Ni Sa-Sa Ni Pa ga Ri Sa. Some people use Veenadhari to render sri ganesathparam in that raagam instead of Ardhra Desi. Apologies for confusing you

I have heard only KJY rendering this song and he calls it as Veena Vadhini. Be that as it may, what is Ardhra Desi then - the ascending and descending scales?

Hi all
I joined this group recently. I've been trying to locate the DVD / video of the 1937 movie "Sant Tukaram" in Mahrathi. Doordarshan telecast it may years ago and I happened to watch it and was completely bowled over by the Abhangs in that movie. apparently the DVD and Video are on sale in internet. I will be visiting Chennai in March(I live in NZ). Does anyone know whether we can buy this movie in Chennai?

Does anyone have KVN's "punniyam oru kodi" - i have the version where the first half is polluted by some unsupportive singing. If someone has a "cleaner" version, please could you post it or upload it? I think he sang that in California during the 90's US tour - maybe someone has that version?

I've been following the messages posted in this group for sometime now. Initially as a visitor and now as a member. I don't have much knowledge on CM but I've always been a keen listener of the same.
Coming to the point, I've been waiting for somebody to start a thread on Punnagavarali in the Raga thread. Everytime I hear Musiri's Kanakasaila my fascination grows exponentially. But as Meenaji mentioned there are too many threads going on right now. So, I'm putting my request here. If somebody can start a thread on this raga once the other threads mature, I would be very much obliged.
Also, right now I have got only Siva ganga by DKJ and kanakasaila by Musiri and Malladi brothers. I would really appreciate if any of you could help me getting a more elaborate version of this raga. Thanks.

I can upload kanakasaila by MSS if you so wish. I have the 2 mentioned by you and the MSS one. i think i also have the one by Dr.Balamuralikrishna. but i need to look up. I am sure BMK has sung this kriti - very good.

I'm going to thank you forever for these uploads, particularly for Kamalaambikaayam. I've heard a DKJ version of this song which is uncomparable to anything. I don't know whether it is a commerical recording. Please make it available to us if it's not.
