First Ram stops posting his reviews and then Coolji disappears. Things don't seem right. My request to both - please reconsider.

hi everybody i have just registered myself on this forum
can anybody assist me - i need a 'good'-quality recording of 'Sagara Shayana Vibho' in Raga Bageshri - sung by the great KVN. the one mp3 file that i have is very very poor in audio, and i really need to have this classic masterpiece sung by a master musician. Somebody out there, please help!!!

Ram has decided to stop posting reviews on his own blog too; so I think it may be nothing to do with this site.

Not posting concert details is a personal decision and as Nick says, has nothing to do with this site.

Dear Friends! Thanks for the welcome hug.

Neyveli (vidyaarthi, read: "mahaaguru") Anna... Greetings from your Thambi. Hi JayBee! You have collected the sweetest of honey on laya...kudos. Lakshmanji is definitely Adiseshan for all musicians while Arasiji seemingly has not left a single lilting raga sesham (:read "unexplored") in her compositions!

Hats off to srkris, vgvindan, vasanthakokilam, vijay, ksrimech, prashant and all others for having been guided by the "cmlover" in you!

Rajesh, I share your Madurai Mani Iyerwal Bhakthi. On reading your reviews, sometimes I feel that you observe (and record) a lot more detail at our concerts than we manage to do, as we let it flow! Hope all my fellow-musicians will agree.

All the bright young reviewers on the forum are first class. Rajesh's zeal for CM is catching...
Thank you for your kind words. I see that you follow the legendary swan principle--taking the good and leaving out the rest!

Also noticed some of the regulars like jayaram and mahakavi have also disappeared.
Wonder what happened...

Mahakavi was removed for posting obnoxious posts like http://rasikas.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=3341, without being provoked, and not apologizing to the person concerned.

Hi All,

This is the first day for me in this group. Though i hardly understand carnatic, i am putting best of my efforts to learn. this is one of the reason i joined this group. I hope i would increase my music skills, if such a huge number of carnatic people are around me..

Namaskarams to all elders..

Namaskaram to all :) This is my first day out here on the boards!

I am a physician from Chennai and am learning to play the keyboard. For the past few days I've been having this huuuuuuge urge to learn Carnatic music formally, so I'd want to hang around here and whet my appetite before I get going.

Hope to learn and share a lot of things :)

Warm Regards

srkris,
thanku for the explanation, although i didn't quite understand why you felt the said posting by mahakavi was obnoxious. mustbe some private tiff that we are not privy to.

still feel sad many of the regulars have left...that's life, i suppose.

Dear All,

I'm new here. I hail from coimbatore, a city well known for texitle mills. Lately we have started appreciating carnatic music. I fact Rajalaksmi fine arts holds September festival which goes on for 15 days with more than 50 concerts.

I have missed this forum for a long time. I thank all of you for creating this wonderful forum.

Welcome Ravi, my fellow coimbatorian!

Coimbatore has been appreciating carnatic music for a long time. Binny Subba Rao and family used to have and still have music festivals at their mansion for a very long time now.

I have also attended concerts in a thathed place somewhere in Peelamedu - don't remember where. I can still vividly remember chittibabu walking out of the auditorium with his veena (all because he heard the mike squeak followed by an airplane overhead!!!) and the organizers running after him!

Cheers

I really wish K-ji & DRS can come back...because for me, these 2 individuals (more than anyone else) have contributed much with regards to the initial make-up, sustenance and outlook of this forum....

I agree that this forum no longer allows for the occasional quirk in personality which makes an online forum interesting, but knowing K-ji & DRS, I hope their love for the artform will eventually bring them back...any organization is only as good as its participants, and these two were elite in that sense...

p.s Ram's reviews are much missed also!

pps...the forum still continues to be a joy, and has a new life, being that so many esteemed musicans have made this their home! Glory be to ALL....
