Here it comes. Based on feedback the clues this time are less cryptic and more straightforward. As usual this is not a memory test. Answers can be logically worked out from the clues. All answers are names of ragas you know. Start cracking and happy solving:
1. Cupid's favorite
2. Butter stacked at XL
3. Combat an armoured car from inside
4. Frying medium (of yesteryears?)
5. Can you change a rival?
6. Respectful prefix for him or is it poison
7. Respectfully addressing him
8. Hear the hoot of Vishnu's vehicle
9. Neither borrow nor steal from charming programmer
10. And finally favorite of all of us here

Good attempt. Congrats to
sunadha2003 for getting 1,2,4,5,8 and 10 right
vijay for getting 9 right
shadjam for getting 2 right
punarvasu for getting 4,5,8 & 10 right.
That leaves 3,6 &7:
3 is atana: CombAT AN Armoured etc. ATANA is inside the clue itself !
6 is actually Sree. It is a respectful prefix for HIM. I recently learnt that Sree also means poison as in Sreekantan
7 is tough - addressing HIM is MAN, respectfully addressing is MAN - JI, Manji
Rationale for others:
1. Cupid is Manmadhan who is Ratipati
2. Butter is Navaneetham and is at No. 40 (XL is 40) in the melakarta scale
4 , 5 and 8 are very direct
9. Neither borrow nor steal gives BEG. Ms. ADA Lovelace is considered to be the world's first software programmer (she is incidentally the daughter of the English poet Lord Byron). So we get Begada.
Hope you enjoyed the exercise
