ragam-talam,
Just chanced upon your link. Thanks.
Was touched by the way the daughter speaks of her mother. It seems as though Radha Viswanathan is there in a room with us, speaking of her mother with love. However unique she was as a musician, and with a soul touched by divinity, you hear the closeness and comfort the mother bestowed upon her daughter who was not only steeped in the music of her mother but was also showered the love of a mother, the best one could dream of having.
MSS's sharing quality is related by Gowri Ramnarayan. She shared every little thing and found joy in it. The woman who loved flowers would share equally the strand of flowers given to her with each and everyone who happened to be there around her...
Hope we get to see more of the Podigai birthday rememberances.

I also remember many years before before a MSS concert,Radha came out of the ante room by the side of dais and offered strands of jasmine to my mother and aunt who were there sitting for the concert to begin stating the flowers were too many for them.arasi wrote:ragam-talam,

GBL,
This picture was taken during the function held at Krishna Gana Sabha to felicitate Lalgudi on his 50th Solo Performance at the same venue. I recollect that this function was celebrated in a grand manner by KGS.
If you blow up this image you can see the Souvenir which MLV is holding on her lap.
"Lalgudi's 50th Solo Performance
Sri Krishna Gana Sabha
Madras."
You may be aware that Lata is a great fan of Lalgudi.

What a picture, Cienu!
I cherish all the photographs which fill the pages of Radha Viswanathan's memories of her mother, beautifully told by Gowri Ramnarayanan in the book MS & Radha.
This one adds color to the collection. Please bring more of them to us every now and then. How the cover of a magazine, after so many years becomes a sweet thing to behold for many...

At a residence function held to felicitate the late Mani Krishnaswami. (I presume this must have been held after she was awarded the Sangitha Kalanidhi title which means this is Dec 1993 or early Jan 1994.)
In the picture are Mani with a garland on her neck, MS, Lakshmi Shankar (with glasses) Behind & between MS & Lakshmi Shankar is Kamala Shankar. To the extreme right (with a garland in hand) is Smt Jayalakshmi, a student of Papa Venkataramiah and a close relative of the Late C V Narasimhan. And seated to the extreme left of the picture on a sofa in a dark blue saree is the Late Muktha Amma.

Respected members of the forum
I am a die hard fan and devotee of MS Amma among many other such people.Though I feel fortunate, lucky and blessed to be a fan of Amma the only thing that disappoints me is that I was born in 1986 and by the time I was 11 she even stopped giving concerts and that was a very big disappointment as we cannot see her performances in person. The more unfortunate thing is that I couldn't even meet her in person.
The only source of her music are the audio and video recordings.
Most of her audio recordings are available commercially and in sangeethapriya. The video recordings are a few and they are avaiable commercially..The videos from DD Archives and Swaralaya puraskaram Concerts. And some gems in youtube that were added by kamakotisankara,paramapara1916.
Are there more of her video concerts?Say like the United Nations Concerts which we people from this generation feel like watching MS performing in the international arena. Many a times that recording might be broadcasted in the DD.Does any member in this forum have that recording.Or atleast shall we people raise a request to the DD to release it commercially so that every rasika can have it in their collection and every devotee will store that in their heart Also does any one have the other video concerts of MS Amma. The famous viriboni varnam,Thyagaraja Aradhana Videos or any rare audio songs of Amma.
Can any one please give me some information on these issues
Thanks and Regards
Aditya

This occasion was a chamber concert at the residence of Radha Viswanthan sometime in July 97 which happened to see 2 grandsons of Palghat Raghu in action! A youthful Abhishek Raghuram (all of 11 years) giving a vocal concert accompanied by R K Shriramkumar on violin and Anand on Mridangam in front of MS and Palghat Raghu (amongst others.)

Checked up, Unfortunately DD Trivandrum had cut the live relay at this point and hence we do not have anything more than this. Infact after this we would have had the Thani with TKM, G Harishankar and T H Subash Chandra
Other songs of this concert we are in the process of uploading in a few days.
