As part of sandhyA vandanam, we utter the following SlOka -

AkASAt patitam tOyam sAgaram pratigacchati
sarva dEva namaskAram kESavam pratigacchati

In one of the website, there was a discussion about the origin and author of this SlOkam. Some attribute it to Adi SankarAcArya.
Any suggestions?

'aksadh pathitham dhoyam edha gachchadhi sagaram
sarvadevanamaskara kesavam prathi gachchathi' is the correct wersion.
i doubt whether it is by adi sankara, because similar thoughts are found in bagavad gita. (the meaning is like how the rains ultimately end in ocean all worships of different Gods reach Kesava.)

Chalanata,
VGV's version is correct for the most part - the version I was taught was:
AkASAt patitam tOyam yathA gacchati sAgaram
sarva dEva namaskAraha kESavam pratigacchati -
(SrI kESavam pratigacchatyOm nama iti)

once Ravishankar was performing in KGS,TNAGAR.The programme started at 6.00normally topgrade hm artists would like to commence at night 10'0'clock only but that day was an exception . after the first piece, the famous banaras based tabla player samtaprasd, suddenly left the stage at about 6.30pm . we could not understand why he left in such a hurry . then ravishankar volunteered the information that samtaprasad has left for performing sandhyavandhanam! gobilalitha

the sloka should read "yatha gachhathi sagaram". It is a simile and therefore this example is shown and reads roughly like :
how [yatha - in hindi this will be jaise] the waters from the sky [rain] finally all reach the ocean,, like so [thatha -like so- prayers reach.........]

Hello Gentlemen,

I read your discussion thought I should let you know that the same you are discussing is on the Adi Shankarachrya DVD. You can either rent it on Netflix, but I had bought two because I am a staunch devotee of Sri Adi Shankaracharya.

You posted :

AkASAt patitam tOyam sAgaram pratigacchati
sarva dEva namaskAram kESavam pratigacchati

and that is what is on the movie which is in Sanskrit (and Hindi) as well has subtitles in other languages.

Regards
