Tomorrow at 1.45 Satur sisters. I saw couple of reviews here and one live in Nada Inbam. Very soothing and strong basics/padandharam. They perform in MA and next day in Nada Inbam, I think, eve slot. Surprising, they have only two concerts... I don't want to miss that.

well, the best place to sit academy is on stage. 20 bucks for both the evening concerts.. i prefer squatting to sitting in the scary balcony.

grsastrigal, sattur sisters are good. they are singing at raga sudha this evening.

Any info on this artist?

Neyveli Santhanagopalan at Academy mostly....maybe Sowmya at NGS if I can wind up quickly but looks unlikely as of now....BHarath's choices as always are refreshingly different!

Bharat - that was meant as a compliment as you don't fall for the hype and seem to have a knack of finding lesser known artistes of high calibre.

Yesterday was a 'Saveri' day for me! Two mains and a submain... 'Inta Tamasame' from RKS mama at MA in the morning, 'Parasakti manu' as submain with neraval by Sowmya at NGS and to cap it all, a Kshetrayya padam in Saveri as MAIN item by Malladi Bros at the Carnatica programme in Swamy's Hall!
No complaints about an overdose of one of my fav ragams!

It was good to catch up with mrs. & mr. coolji, arunk (my old frnd from Chicago days!), sbala, vijay and 'mdrgnb' at MA during Nedunuri garu's concert. Looking fwd to another meet-up one of these days. Wish I wasn't an organizer too... badly want to hear VVS tonight at Academy but I may end up chaperoning Carnatica event at Swamy's hall! :(

sBala - neither did I in the end thanks to a meeting that came up at the last minute...sorry Prashant! Anyway, relaxing at home right now and planning to hear a vidushi who has been eluding me for a while - Sowmya at PSS...alarmingly it's been almost a year since I heard TNS but I am saving it for his upcoming partnership with UKS...

Today has been filled with music:

Amrita Murali at German Hall - Manasi Prasad at NGS Mini - Prasanna V at BVB - Vijay Siva at Academy - Sanjay at Naada Inbam. That does it for my season, friends. I'm leaving for home tomorrow morning. It's been great meeting fellow rasikas.org members and I hope to see you guys again soon. Enjoy the rest of the season!

Saw Mandolin Srinivas two days ago, with Trichy Sankaranan. Met up with a couple of Americans there, it was their first carnatic experience and they were bowled over.

Tonight going to see Ravikiran, with Palghat Raghu and grandson. Taking another American there and hoping she'll be amazed too!

First... shopping in Adyar.

Just back in Mumbai after 3 hours of delay and a harrowingly turbulent flight. It will be nice to calm down by writing a review. Will try to post one tonight

Thoroughly enjoyed Ravikiran. I didn't yet get feedback from my American Lady, as her auto driver dragged her out of the hall 15 minutes before the end.

Normally, we might have tossed him back into his auto and told him to wait but, given the weather and the fact that they had to return to Porur, it didn't seem unreasonable of him to be bothered.

Met and exchanged Hellos with Uday, and had a chat with Arasi. Really pleased about this, having missed the meeting.

Neyveli's demo this morning. Extremely interesting, thoughtful and sprinkled with not witticisms but wisdom touched with humor. Ran into Rajani again and met her sweet son as well.
Caught a bit of G.S. Mani at the Academy and Nageswaran spotted me and we had a pleasant chat. Cool, were you not there? Wore a sari yesterday and Nick could not connect me with the pic until I introduced myself.
I think I frightened the others and there isn't a trace of Vijay, Bala, Ram, Arun, though I know they would have been around. I couldn't find them at Gnanambika either! Bharath, yet to see you....
Before my stuff gets gobbled up again (it is day light robbery, these cards which are 'supposed'
to connect us to the internet.
More later...

Sideline question: I noted the location of Swamy's Hall the other day, but have never been there.

Is there a car park?

What time is this jam session on 30th? --- though to think that I can fit it in with a wedding in the afternoon and reception in the evening is probably just daft :(

Bharath,
It was too late when I spotted you in your blue shirt with your note pad and pen poised, all ears to Parasala. I asked Vijay to say hello to you on my behalf.i ran into Uday again.Met his mother-in-law and sis-in-law.
Was glad to meet Ramaraj and Jayaram who introduced me to Raja Rama Varma. True royalty there, unlike yours truly (falsely?) royal personage.
Anusha spotted me (from the meet photograph) at the Academy this morning and we sat together enjoying another veteran's music. Neela Ramgopal. Without introducing themselves, mother and daughter (who learns from Neela R overheard us and said that they followed rasikAs too (members?). By then, the concert started.
Anusha might post a review. I was there for an hour and hurried to hear Suryaprakash at Parthasarathy and got a surprise. He sang my kalyna vasantam song very emotively. It was a lovely concert. Anyone else attended? A review would be great...

Stayed in today, but would have liked to see Suryaprakash if I had gone out.

I think Rama Varma is performing tomorrow (errr, today: it is Saturday already!). Will go to see him, not only for the music, but to renew an old acquaintance begun in London some years back. My wife picked an old CD of his from the rack today, it will be interesting to see how his voice has changed.
