Dear Rasikas,

I wish you all a very happy Mahanavami and Vijaya dashami.

For those of you, who can read Kannada:

Here is a link for a series of posts made by yours truly, on Sampada.net, One kriti, one composer for each day of the festival along with audio links.

10 days, 10 composers, 10 kritis spanning more than 10 centuries of our history!

Nothing very new for the rasikas here, but still I thought it would be good to share with you all :)

Navaratri - Day one to Day seven

http://sampada.net/books/5976

Navaratri - Day 8

Navaratri - Day 9

Navaratri - Day 10

http://www.sampada.net/blog/hamsanandi/20/10/2007/5989

Compositions of the following 10 composers were included in the series in the order shown below:

Tyagaraja
Hairkeshanallur Muttaiah Bhagavatar
Syama Sastri
G.N. Balasubramanian
Muttuswami Dikshitar
M. Balamuralikrishna
Kanakadasa, and the poets Kumaravyasa and Srivijaya
Tanjavoor Sankara Iyer
Mysooru Vasudevacharya
Jayachamaraja Odeyaru

and how can I forget Swathi Tirunal and his navarAtri kritis?

Here is the thanksgiving to the forum - from the post for the 10th day of Navaratri:

"ಈ ಬರಹಗಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯಕ್ಷವಾಗಿ, ಮತ್ತು ಪರೋಕ್ಷವಾಗಿ ಕಾರಣರಾದ ರಸಿಕ ಫೋರಮ್ (www.rasikas.org) ಗೆಳೆಯರನ್ನು ನಾನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನೆನೆಯುತ್ತೇನೆ. "

For those who can not read Kannada, here it is:

I should remember the friends from rasika forum, who have been instrumental in bringing this series directly, and indirectly.

Once again,

Happy Navaratri to you all

-Ramakriya

ramakriya- Thanks for these links. Excellent articles on Navarathri and interesting stories abt carnatic music composers followed by nice audio link. In fact, just now I heard the Amritha Behag song of GNB.
