Recently, I had been to Navagraha Temples near Kumbhakonam.
The temple in which the planet Venus is worshipped is at Kanjanur. I was pleasantly surprised the priest happily in full throated voice started worshipping 'Sukra Ashottara' in nAdaswarAvali. After, the puja i enquired, is it not nAdaswaravali ?, he was very happy that I had identified the rAga correctly. When the next batch of pilgrims came, he changed the recitation to Dhanyasi.
I would have been much more happier if the priest had sung Sukra ashottara in the ParaZ as that lovely song 'sri sukrabhagavantham' of MD is in Paraz.

If anyone would like to have darshans in Navagraha temples, near kumbakonam, better they allot some moretime
rather than rushing from places to places, so that they can recollect what they have seen !.
also nearby there are some more kshetrams- such as thittai (also for Guru), thirumananchery (near Kanchanur,
Sukra temple), PattEswaram (durga), thirukkarukavoor (Garbarakshambikai), KoothanUr (saraswathi), thiruvaiyaru
PanchnadEsawarar, thirukkadaiyur (abirAmi) Uppiliappankoil ........

in Thanjavur district, there is a kshetram every second mile , some of them associated with musical legends like semmangudi , tiruvaduthurai, tiru veezhimizhalai , melatturetc (the list is endless) koothanur is unique in having a temple dedicated to GODDESS OF LEARNING (probably the only place) it will be very pleasant to visit these and other places in thanjavur dist in january when there will be greenery on bothsides of the road, the paddy fields full to the brim.having enjoyed the bounty of Kaveri mata(especially this year, when Mettur has become full sixtimes), the farmers spreading the hay for sunshine on the roadsitself as a6iinch thick bed(drivers of the cars to be careful to avoid skidding), I must stop now having gone wide off the subject gobilalitha

Continuing gobilalitha's pilgrimage tour of Kumbakonam, I happenned to visit a lovely SHWETHA GANAPATHI temple attributed to the churning of sea by Suras & Asuras episode. The deity is supposed to have made out the seawaves hence the name.
I want rasikas please investigate, there is a Muthuswamy Dikshitar's song starting with "Swetha Ganapathim", the question -is this song on this shrine ??
