Thanks everyone.
Sarika means a mynah, though it may generally mean any bird.
Yes I have only heard of Devi holding a parrot, but Kamalamba Navavaranam (Ahiri kriti) has a phrase "dhRta-shuka-sArikE"

2: taruNa taraNi kiraNAruNa mrdu caraNE - one with tender feet red as the young(rising) sun
bandhuka sumArunE - one red as the bandhuka(red trumpet) flower

SArikA is meant as a talking bird. It symbolises "vAk". kamalAmbA navAvaraNa is also on dEvi.
SAradAmbe of SRngEri is also depicted with the parrot in her hand.

DRS,
(Suka) SArikE = vAk ....is that why the dEvi is referred to as tattai/taTTai mozhiyAl? or kIra vANI?

One more correction : bandhUka refers to the scarlet marrow flower, called vEngai in Tamil, It is not , as I had originally translated, the Red Trumpet flower, which in Sanskrit is actually "pAtalI puShpam" (pAdiri in Tamil)

ushasree, I have seen Malavika Sarukkai perform this piece some years back, and I can still visualise her beautiful, statuesque poses for the words of this kriti.

Hi friends...Today I have choreographed the song and I could do only because of you....but I had problems with the line "sangItAmbhOjAnanda madhumAdhuri madamadhukari" . some how tune is changing after bhojananda so continuity with rest of the phrase is off.
Rajani ...I am sure Malavika's performance was feast for the eyes.

What the suffix, Urs after the composer's name (lingarAjA) denote? Does it refer to UdaiyAr (Wodeyar), him being belonging to the family of the Wodeyar's?

I think it is a corrupted form of arasu.
