Ghilu ghilu ghiluremba ponnanduge gejje
ghilu ghilu ghiluru emba ponnadduke gejje is the correct line.
The little bells on the waistbelt of gold that make sounds ghilu ghilu...

Sorry I must caution you Indian languages are different from English. What looks like a word is actually part of a phrase with conjunctions called Sandhi. The tragedy is today most singers and even Guru's have read Indian lyrics in English and make mistakes a plenty.

The correct way is in my opinion to discuss with a person who speaks and understands the respective language well one on one. For that you have to be lucky! Rasikas.org is a poor substitute. But does help. Like here! πŸ™

Thanks Sachi. I know how the wording changes when transliterating a song from one Indian language to another. I have umpteen Kannada and Telugu songs waiting to be transliterated. The difficulty is to find people who have the time and patience to help out. I know that you are a stickler for accuracy.

Lakshman,
As it is your collecting and sharing the lyrics is most commendable.

The fault lies in the originator of the transcript always. He or she should know the language and write down using proper transliteration. Most Indian languages are very unforgiving in terms of long/short/hard/soft/alpa/maha/sandhi/vibhakti/pratyaya.

So the process of scrubbing is very tedious indeed.

Now there are published books with mistakes too!

namaskAra!
I tried to log in last weekend as I would like to help out on this request.
Looks like there was some issue with the website and I was not able to log in.

Lakshman-ji, please feel free to contact me.
I will do my best to help you in any way possible. It's been on mind for a long time that I should visit you and spend time with you in person. I will try to do that this summer.
Lately, my engagement with music related activities has taken a hit, and I would like to get back to it!

Sri. Sachi avaru has once again posted a message of great value.

I would like to help on this request as this song is close to my heart (my Father is credited with setting the tune to Sri rAga. I grew up on a feast of listening to him singing and performing this song on the veene)

As Sri. Sachi avaru mentioned " So the process of scrubbing is very tedious indeed."

I am open for a phone conversation to help out on this topic as it would be easier to explain my input.

I live in the Eastern Standard Time zone in the U.S.
