Suvarnangi

Post by Christian Kenit Ram »

Melakarta raga ( nr 47 ), Vasu Chakra ( 8th ) .
Mela structure : Like Shubhapantuvarali in purvanga and Dhirashankarabharana in uttaranga . ( The raga itself , when actually rendered , might have a more subtle structure which could be reflected in a pakad or chalan )

At times it sounds to me like Hindustani raga Madhuvanti ( related to Dharmavati ) , but with R1 instead of R2 .
Then I thought some parts can have traces of HD raga Multani , while others point more to Miyan ki Todi ( HD ) .

Krithi by Dr. Balamuralikrishna : Sri Raghupathim ( Rupaka tala )

It sounds more like GamanaSrama once the kriti rendition goes upwards. PD2N3S , SN3D2P ... hmm.. If dhIrashankarabharana has its own sound distinct from rAga SankarAbharaNa , well may be ;)

But it seems SankarabharaNam N3 is anusvara and it is S P R2 S on avarOhaNam says TMK quoting SSI:

He has not mentioned about vAdi samvadi between tetrachords. Without that you have no luck! You just sweep up and down!
