WOW - what a spellbinding rendition.
TMK is one artist who can just perform solo on stage, needs no accompaniment and yet the music will standout and be complete.

Ref..p- 1
As @Sachi_R Sachi-Sir once mentioned elsewhere , live video (visuals) of concerts, can be terribly distracting and even irritating. The music may be great but the vocalist's acrobatics and gestures can be a horror. Somehow, with HM classical greats ,(male vocalists), it never puts us off and seems very natural and dignified.
.
The uploader could have extracted the music alone and uploaded it .
The accompanists in the video , especially the renowned
violinist lady, is wonderful ,with least mannerisms. Violinists always are.
.
Generally, Great CM artistes of equal eminence , past and present, with rare exceptions, are very pleasing and restrained in their stage mannerisms while singing in concerts.--especially, the lady artistes.
.
Smt.DKP was said to be the perfect example . Music comes from the throat and heart and it should.
.
Live video-visuals (of the golden era )are rare in youtube. And one such rare live-visual-video of 3 hour concert, by Radha-Jayalakshmi , has been given in musicians section. -last week
The dignified presence , especially of Radha , is a lesson. for students.
.
So is the early video recording of Smt.MS singing Jagadoddharana , accompanied by Smt. Radha Viswanathan , - real visual blessing. given now in another thread today. ..Here again, Smt.Radha Viswanathan , hardly has any gestures even while rendering difficult phases. in the kruthi.
In concert halls, the audience are not near enough to the stage and can hear the music only. But, live videos like the one presented here, are giving close-up on the vocalist and we can only wish that we want the music and not your gestures. ..laughable.
The videographer is to be careful in this matter with live streaming proliferating, these days.

RSR, you are under no obligation to watch the video! You can cover the window up with something else. Sometimes I do this when someone has uploaded some old record and added, for instance, a distracting animation. I do understand that sometimes one wants to listen, not watch.

Please... What is this GOAT? is it one of these words you youngsters use, that us oldies don't understand? ;)

I know that @Sachi_R is a great fan of TMK 's singing.
Still, I am not sure that he did not choose the title for the thread, in the British slang parlance rather than as an acronym
(tongue in the cheek)
@Nick H would know about the slang.

Old records, music with slides- it depends. Sometimes, the slides bring out the meaning of the song, effectively.

RSR,
Nick likes goats, I bet he likes the sea too, and could I give him a hint by asking: how are pearls made? That might lead him to the old English goat and how it figures in a situation...

p-12 -'arasi'
Madam, Like Nick , 'even more puzzled now'.
The slang meaning I had in mind , is not too offensive . It simply means some pedantic and 'critical' person, though there are other meanings, not appropriate for this forum.

RSR,
The expression I had in mind wasn't that offensive either :) Since we are on the subject of the animal, I now remember, yes, an old (what else) colloquial tamizh expression: parITShaiyile 'goat' aDichuTTAn to mean--he has failed in his exam.

Yes. It was a common phrase all over tamizh areas in my schooldays.
I am yet to find out the root. of that usage.

RSR,
The word in Kannada is gOtA (गोता) (ಗೋತಾ)
The expression comes from when a kite flying nosedives head first and does not recover its flight.

Probably the origin is Hindi girnaa girtaa etc.
