He also sang

The violinist was Aditi Krishnaprakash who has learnt from the great Mysore violin guru H. K. Narasimha Murthy.

Wonder why Vignesh Ishwar sang with him. I doubt a voice like his needs any ‘vocal support’, so it is quite surprising.

There is more than one reason for someone to have a student sing as a second voice.

I remember MMI, Somu, MLV, MSS, GNB, KVN, MVS,... So many memorable and powerful voices have someone sing along.

Vighnesh Ishwar would acquit himself very well in that role.

But your point is very interesting. Only someone who attended can comment on his exact role y'day.

I think it was just a case of Vignesh Ishwar being present and not having any role to play, like playing the tambura for instance that made TMK ask him to sing a bit.

The vocal support was very minimal when he sang the kritis but TMK asked him to sing swaras, alapana also and Vignesh did a great job.

@Sachi_R you can see for yourself. A couple of videos have been uploaded to YouTube.
