Coolkarniji, No need to fetch MMI's Bhuvaneswariya as you promised to try and do. Here it is, downloaded from Vishuji's magnanimous upload last year...
The master plays to the lilting accompaniments of LGJ, Alangudi and TKM...

Some more Mohanakalyani by Lalgudi Krishnan with Vijayalakshmi as his accompaniment:

Re:
Just came across this old post, thanks to the latest posts. I understand that Shuddh Kalyan is the closest hindustani raga to Mohanakalyani. The arohan is like Bhupali or Mohana, SRGPDS. In the descent, you can often only detect the Ma and the Ni, but not pinpoint them (unlike Mohanakalyani) because these notes are glided over but not stopped at, or clearly sung as a distinct step between Sa and Dha, or between Pa and Ma. Even if these are distinctly heard, it is very fleeting. Do feel free to correct my understanding, if you see I’m wrong..Mahesh wrote: ↑27 Jan 2006, 21:26 CML sir, there is an one hour clip of Shudha Kalyan in MusicIndiaOnline. Bhimsen Joshi. 'Nuff said. Pure class. Hope it's the same that Lakshman sir is referring to. To be honest even though I can kind of sense the swaras used are the same as Mohana Kalyani, it appears very different to my ears, with stress of different sangathis and prayogas.
Can someone please explain? Many thanks.
