Sri.Ajay,@ 300-> If you are very particular about the 1938 version, ( Smt.DKP was just around 20 then, and her voice was divine. ), you cannot be blamed! One or two songs from that period are still available ( 'desa sevai seyya vareer.. lyrics by Kalki?). but the film is lost. as of now. ,

yeah, these pallavi lines are 100% worthy to be be called as a visiting card to Jaganmohini ragam in tamil
as a CM enthusiasts we get reminded only of shobillu sapthaswara when we hear the word Jaganmohini.

I am in two minds about including a heavy 40 min rendition of this song.
Rather too heavy.
I found a shorter song in this ragam by Smt.Mani Krishnasami. May be more suitable.
It is becoming rather difficult to get suitable tamil songs for further ragams. ( from olden days)
Hence a pause, for the present.
Keep searching for links for the ragams not yet covered ( tamil only and vintage) and help me.

As an innovative feature, he added a prelude to the film — celebrated Carnatic musician D. K. Pattammal sang ‘Enakkum nirupatham ninaikka ...', narrating the main events of the Ramayana. As she sang, the events were shown on screen in silhouette, a novelty in cinema then. Pattammal sang in ragas Kedaragowla, Shanmughapriya, Bilahari, Dhanyasi, Mayamalawagowla and Mohanam.
(This song was made famous years ago by another icon of Carnatic music, M. S. Subbulakshmi, in a gramophone record brought out by ‘Broadcast' which had the Rising Sun as its logo. This recording company was owned by the well-known jewellers of Madras of that era, Surajmals.)

Few years back I had seen/ heard an audio (feels like some commercial album) of DKP amma speaking about Kargil war and soldiers. But unable to locate over the net.

Nādabhṛṅga presents a wonderful concert of Sangita Kalanidhi Vidushi Smt. D K Pattammal from the archives. This concert was performed at the Music Club, Madras, on the 22nd of November, 1967. Smt. Pattammal can be heard at her erudite best in this concert, ably supported by the titan Sangita Kalanidhi Mahavidwan Sri Palghat T S Mani Iyer on the mridangam.

By presenting the first issue to many on stage in the fine arts field: a records seller, sabha secretary, journalist, rasika, vidwan, sound provider and so on.
Though more than ten people spoke, winding up the event in an hour and a half.
Semmangudi who released the magazine repeated what he said: I am getting the first copy by paying for it--even me! He asked all to support the venture. He reminded us about Ariyakudi's coming up with the concept on kachidam (terseness ) in a kacheri and how DKP has been singing that way all along, with not a shred of nonsense in her performances.
T.T.Vasu was happy to be part of the event--his first engagement after he became the president of the Music Academy. He remembered his father TTK on this special day and extolled Smt. Pattammal.
T.S. Parthasarathy recollected his meeting DKP several times for an interview and how it revealed to him her humility. He praised her for not forgetting to mention even those among her students who came to learn just a few songs from her.
Tamizhisai Sankaran reminded us all of the opposition she faced within the family as she started giving concerts. She coped with it all and even went on to sing many patriotic songs to inspire us all. That is to be applauded. Speaking of the encouragement she gets from her husband Sri. Easwaran, Sankaran added that he is the one who tunes the tambura before a concert!

"How dare women sing pallavis!--was the old refrain. DKP was bold enough to sing them in her concerts and she became an expert in it. She is a guiding light to all younger female musicians" remarked vidushi Vedavalli.
Without listing all his efforts, the editor of the magazine, Sri. Pattabhiraman merely said: I don't want to say much. Let the magazine speak for itself.
Sruti does speak amply on many things by its own merits in its first issue. In a long interview seen from all angles, it notes the service DKP has rendered to music in the fifty years of her career. The article about Mandolin Srinivas is a study in child prodigies. Writing about Sonal Mansingh, Lakshmi Viswanathan and others tell us that dance too has a special place in Sruti.
There is also a cartoon by Sarathy in this issue: amruthavarshiNi brings rains, punnAgavarALi lures snakes, why isn't there a rAgam for attracting rasikAs?*
Hopefully, Sruti would redress this. As if to prove it, in today's event, many were standing on the stage, some sitting on the floor since all chairs in the hall were occupied!
Now that the Sruti is aligned, may the concert rock!

Pattamma's paTTAna pATTu (precious song), yes, from our school days kadam kadam baDhAye jA and the lovely clip of celebration in the capitol with its grand parade from 1988, and how grand it is to see women walking in the front even then with the many regiments of the land to that song!
Inspiring clip from kappalOTTiya thamizhan and 'doubly Subbiah'! T.R.Mahalingam singing Bharathi's 'viDudalai' from the forties--memorable. AVM truly was a beacon in the film world then for his patriotic zeal and in bringing Bharathi to countless people--even to the unlettered.
