The concert of Aiswarya Sankar was noteworthy for her selection of songs, vishranti and support of the senior accompanists. The start with the evergreen Seethapathe- a famous song of the Musiri legion was appropriate. The next song was the highlight for me. It came as a gentle breeze at the unexpected moment. The song Tyagaraja Mahaddwajaroha in Sree ragam. A rarely heard kriti in the concert circuit. After a brief alapana of Sree ragam, the kriti was presented in the most appropriate vilamba kalam facilitating the rasika to savour each word of the kriti and the raga bhavam oozing every inch. The kalpana swaras were icing on the cake.
The sub main was Kalyani- Talli ninnu nera again rendered in a pleasing kalapramanam. The main ragam was Mukhari rendered very very elaborately for the kriti Karubaru. The kalapramanam appeared to be slower than some of the versions I have heard. Yet to hear the rest.
RKSRK provided excellent support in his raga alapanas and swara returns. AP supported as usual in his Mridangam.
