Re: KVN 16th Remembrance day
KNV,
Good to see you and hear about your father after quite some time! I liked the way you looked at him with affection, but in a detached way all the same. KVN's music was always very pleasing. It was authentic and aesthetic. He sang with feeling--an anubhavam (experience) which was often a moving experience for rasikAs. I consider myself lucky to have known him as a child. A quiet man, a serious musician and a gentle person. He was so well-liked by all elders and the rest of us in my extended family

Re: KVN 16th Remembrance day
Thanks Arasi. The speech was followed by a concert. It was cut short to 90 mins. (Violin & Thani & 3 songs removed). This is a high energy concert. Though we had decent crowd response (mainly KVN fans) only few youngsters turned. I could spot only Flautist Jayanth, Navaaneetha Krishnan Aditya Prakash & Ashwath. There is definitely something for youngsters to learn from his vocalisation technique. There are quite a few youngsters with good voice but poor in vocalisation. Preserving the voice for longevity is another aspect which young musicians can learn from KVN's vocalisation. He could maintain sruti perfection & sing comfortably in higher ranges till his last concert on 1st Jan 2002.
Concert list:
Accompanists:
T.N.Krishnan - Violin
Palghat R.Raghu - Mridangam

Re: KVN 16th Remembrance day
I have read that Sri KVN did quite a research on using the lung capacity to the minimum and not exert the throat/voice so that it could sustain for longer years with least blemish. KVN and Kalyanaraman perhaps were pioneers in this. I do not exactly remember the technicalities of this though!KNV1955 wrote: ↑05 Apr 2018, 09:29 here is definitely something for youngsters to learn from his vocalisation technique.
