Re: Sri Anchaneya
Should it not be anchaneya then? Whenever a composer uses this word the dvitiyaakshara prasa they use in the following line is only hrasva (imean the firstletter). This made me to raise this query.

Re: Sri Anchaneya
The elongation of the first "a" to "A" in any derived word shows that it is derived from a parent noun with "a" as the first vowel.
Examples:
jAnakI
rAghava
pArvatI
dAzarathi
AnjanEya
bhAradwAja
vAsudEva..

Bhakthim Dehi, Āñjaneya is correct.
When you say you are concerned about dwitīyākṣara prāsa, you then contradict that by saying that you are talking about the first letter (dwitīya-akṣara is by definition the "second syllable").
The dwitīyākṣara in the word is not ā, it is ja.

U didn't read my post properly; also misinterpreted the rules of dvitiyaakshara prasa. In the dvitiyaakshara prasa, not only the second letter is considered. The first letter must also correspond; hrasva for hrasva or dhirga for dhirga. Going by this rule, not only ja to be considered , but also the letter before that.
If Anjaneya is right, let me know the grammatical rules.

If I am not too late to answer it is Aanjaneya. And it doesn't violate the rules because both Aanjaneya and Anjana are Dirgha due to the presence of a conjunct consonant nja.
