GEETHA RAJA has established herself as a well known concert vocalist in South Indian classical music for two decades. She is an accomplished musician with Master's degrees in Music and English.
Geetha had her initial training in music from Sangita Kala Acharya Bombay Ramachandran and later was privileged to come under the tutelage of Sangita Kalanidhi T.Brinda from whom she imbibed a vast repertoire of classical compositions. She has also had specialised training under Sangita Kalanidhi, Padma Bhushan K.S. Narayanaswami and Padmashri Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan
she performs regularly on radio and television as an "A" grade artiste of All India Radio, Chennai, and has been featured often in the National Programme and Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan of AIR.
She holds prestigious awards like Kalaimamani etc.
She gave a performance at MA recently selecting songs from GK Barathi with supporting artists Ms.Narmadha and shri J vaithiyanathan.
Sapabathikku in Abhohi and Varugalamo in Manji were the attraction of the day.
It may of interest to know that she is the sister in law of the versatile Smt Aruna Sairam.

To me Geetha Raja is synonymous with Padams and Javalis rendering. She has a powerful voice but can become aggressive sometimes.
But kudos to her because she always includes a Padam or Javali in her concert.
She is a student of Brinda and so is Aruna Sairam. But Aruna Sairam rarely sings the Padams and Javalis that are the gems of the Brinda school whereas Geetha Raja sings them true to the bani of Brinda SCHOOL. At the same time Geetha Raja's repertoire is not limited to Brinda school she sings other compostions too zestfully.
