Over the weekend I had been to a thiruppugazh session. Enjoyed it tremendously.
Have a question though: there was a piece that we sang, which was listed in in the thiruppugazh book as 'Sankarananda priya' - but it sounded like Sivaranjani. Can someone confirm this. And what is the source of this name?
Also interested in learning more about thiruppugazh itself.
Sankarananda priya?

i'm clueless about sankaranandapria. however i can say a few things about tirupughazh.
it is sung by arunagirinathar. he was living in Tiruvannamalai and in a fit of frustration he tried jumping from vallala gopuram and Lord Subramanya saved him and directed him to sing songs in His praise. He gave the beginning 'Muthai thiru pathi thiru nagai'
Arunagiri sang a song and won over a Jain sambandhandan by singing 'Chethalar Ada'. Subramanya Swami appeared on a pillar and the sanctum is called 'Kambathu Elayanar Sannithi' in Tiruvannamalai.
Thirupughazh is full of bejakshara and is said to cure many ills when recited.
It was Vallimalai Swamigal contemporary of Ramana Maharishi who made Tiruppugazh famous with his melodious voice.
