Tips for practicing

Post by krishnaa »

Dear dancers, please help! :)
There are a few problems that i have while practicing. I thought it will help me if i started a thread and aked them one by one.

Firstly, when I am practicing, I dont feel thirsty, but my lips, toungue and throat get extremely dry. Even if I drink a few sips of water before starting, in the middle of an item, I feel very uncomfartable due to this dryness. Any ideas how to sort this out?

And, is hot water and salt the only remedy for leg pain?

In normal circumstance, water with a little lemon juice (no sugar) should act as a quenching agent. But if the thirst continues, you should consult a doctor because thirst may be caused due to some other problem in health.

Forgive my very personal inquiry, but do you sweat a lot? :P

You might be losing too much water. The days you dance, remember to start drinking water from the morning, and make sure you go through at least a couple bottles. Drinking right before you dance is fine, but the key is to keep yourself hydrated throughout the day (even after practicing).

Thanks alot VKR! Shall try water with lemon.

Yes Umesh, I do sweat ALOT during practice. :) When i practice the Kuchipudi thalam, my leg starts slipping off the thalam.
Thanks alot for the advice. Shall do as you have suggested. I guess i am running low on water because when in college, naturally, water intake decreases. And usually, the situation is that I am either practicing before going to college or after coming from college.

What about the leg pain?

leg pain is also caused due to dehydration. Do have the practice of drinking water from the time one wakes up at frequent intervals instead of waiting to get thirsty.
