Namaste,
I was hoping that someone might be able to provide the translation of the following tillana sahitya :

nIla mayil mIdil inda nI varum kATSi anda vElA murugA
nI enak-karudAmal eDukkinra janmam tanda nittanE nirantaranE shrI
raghuvAn

Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
rasikapriya21

I think the words need editing: they don't make much sense as they are currently. I am sure Lakshmanji will have the correct version if you post the composer and rAga information.

I did listen to the tillAnA clip that rasikapriya21 had sent me and wrote down the words but they don't make sense to me either.

nIyenakkarudAmal eDakkinra janmam tandAl nityanE nirantaranE nI aruLvAi

This song brought back memories of a prvate song renedition I got years ago from a friend's father, who sings as a hobby. The artist has high pitch, and sings in a distinctve fashion, definitely with devotion. I still have a clip, I am uploading. Dont know if this is the right song, but nevertheless, adding it here.

An attempt to translate , with minor changes to Lji's words

nIla mayil mIdil - On the blue peacock
irundu - seated
nI tarum kATSi - a vision of you
inda vELaI - at this momemt
enakkaruLvAi murugA - bless me with, O Muruga
nIyenakkaruLAmal - without you blessing me
eDaRkinda janmam tandAl - why did you give me this birth?
nityanE - Eternal one!
nirantaranE - endless one!
nI aruLvAi - you favour (me)

O Muruga bless me now, with a vision of you seated on the blue peacock. If you do not bless me, why did you give me this life, O Eternal one, do favour me.

Rajani,
With the minor changes you made, suddenly an unintelligible piece comes alive with so much piety and lyrical beauty!
Thank you!
Ravi
