Any Raga with different fundamental notes in arohanam vs. avarohanam

Hi,

It might seem like a silly question, so I apologize in advance. From the Melakartha system the ragas can have one of each Ri, Ga, Ma, Da and Ni - i.e. it cannot have G1 and G2 for instance. That does not change between the arohanam and avarohanam also, as far as I know.

Are there many Janya ragas that derive from multiple Melakarthas - for instance following one Melakartha in arohanam and another in avarohanam?

Its arohanam is S P M2 P D2 N3 S , while avarohanam is S N3 D2 P M2 M1 G3 P M1 R2 S

(where it has both M1 AND M2 in avarohanam). So not only are the fundamental notes different, but there is the presence of two types of the same note.

Yes. Such ragams are called Bhashanga ragams. Saranga is one such, quite similar to Hamir Kalyani.
Saranga
Aarohanam: S P M2 P D2 N3 S
Avarohanam: S D2 P M2 R2 G3 M1 R2 S

Bhairavi is also a Bhashanga ragam, having Shuddha Dhaivatham as well the Chatushruthi Dhaivatham.
