gAnavAridhi - Brinda Mukta (non-vivAdi) version

Post by SrinathK »

Brinda & Mukta's version of Thyagaraja's kriti daya jUchuTa is different from the rest. The original form of the rAgA gAnavAridhi is vivAdi only, using R3. It might have been the tendency across the entire CM world in those days to avoid vivAdis as far as possible (this I have even seen in their versions of kritis like swAminAtha paripAlayAsumAm or even SSI's mahA ganapatim - so it was a trend then).

So what is this version of gAnavAridhi look like? Well, it's actually impossible to put one set of arOhaNam and avarOhaNam on it, so we'll have to look at it phrase by phrase. The rAgA uses 2 Ns in this non-vivAdi version, with N3 dominating

PMGS - SGRG,M - PDN3S - SMGS - SMGM - SN3PMGS - SN3SDN3S
GMPMMGG-S, - PMGRGS

N2 comes in PDN2D(N2)P. The default is N3 unless otherwise mentioned as N2.

SN3P and SP are both possible. SNS-PDNS is also seen.

As for their version, here you go : http://www.sangeethamshare.org/tvg/UPLO ... agam_24x7/
