When I was a young girl, the Tamil Weekly 'Sudesamithran' (Swadesshamithran) had Arunachala Kavi's Rama Nataka krithi each week and the notations were by Ariyakkudi Ramanuja Iyengar- if my memory serves me right. Anyone who remembers, or have heard about this from their elders can clarify this. Thanks. Maybe RSachi or someone else has an old copy of one of the issues!

Were you thinking of the tiruppAvai songs that Ariyakudi set to notation? There is a book that has been published with these compositions. There were also another series of Mysore Vasudevachar's songs.

Maduramini,

I am attaching below a link to some of Ariyakudi's Rama Nataka Krithis (with notations) which appeared in Swadesamitran magazine. I hope this is what you were looking for.

Other than the songs notated in the svadēśamitran publication, one publication (1960s???) was available that included the complete work, replete with the prefatory prosodic passages (viruttam, daṇdakam , etc.) with songs. As well, one of the Annamalai University series publications under the heading of "tamiḻicaip pāṭalkaḷ " included selected compositions with notation. One recent publication on tamiḻ mūvar compositions also included select compositions with notation.

I have not seen the 1960 publication but a similar book was published by Saraswati Mahal, Tajavur in 1997. It has the viruttams, dandakams and the songs but no notations.
Volume 8 in the tamizh isai padalgal series has 50 songs with notations. This pdf is available at the musicresearchlibrary.net site.

The illustrations alongside the songs are so beautiful - especially loved Sri Rama picture in the song Rama Sami Konda Kolam (Kapi)
These pictures are really great to understand the context of the composition -e.g. Vandaan Vandaan Bharatha - shows clearly that Hanuman is singing this to Bharatha who is about to sacrifice himself
