Books giving meaning of popular compositions

Post by sangeeta_rasike »

I am a beginner(located in India), learning the veena. Could someone please suggest books that give meanings of popular compositions (i.e. translations from Sanskrit, Telugu, Kannada, etc into English)?

T.K.Govinda Rao has published books on the compositionsTyagaraja, Dikshitar, Shyama Shastri and Svati Tirunal with lyrics, notation and meanings. These books are published by Ganamandir Publications. They should also be available at the Karnatic Music Book Centre, Royapettah, Chennai.
