Aruni Uddalaka - Hans & Dyke

Post by vs_manjunath »

Puranic Sanskrit Story " Aruni Uddalaka" a young shishya saves the crop field of his Guru Dhoumya's Ashram by lying down and blocking the entry of water !

The European Hans & Dyke all of us know is a similar parallel story !

Interesting lead, thx Manjunath!
I read (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aruni)
A. uddAlaka was a dedicated disciple
B. he could later be the same as NacikEta's infamous father vAjashravas!
C. Or he was a different sage who uttered the mahAvAkya, "tat tvam asi" to his son shvetakEtu!
