One-Sheet Varnams

Post by SabashBale »

My daughter has moved on to learning varnams and I found it difficult for her to use existing material from music books or available resources on the net, mainly because of the following reasons:
1. Lower and Higher sthayis not properly notated with the bottom and top dots respectively.
2. Formatting issues in the texts making it difficult to follow
3. Alignment of the sahitya part of the text with the swara part.
To address this, I formatted a few varnams in one page, with the swaras and sahitya neatly aligned in columns. I think it may be useful for beginners to refer to, when learning. If there is a way to share pdfs or word documents, I can share it here and await feedback on whether it will be useful.

Hi,
This is a very nice effort.
On a quick look, i found few things: Low and High sthayi markings (dots) are completely absent on the Kalyani varnam, and on the first line of Abhogi varnam in (SRSSDMD,) phrase.
A thorough proof reading would minimize such issues going ahead.
Wish you all the best!

Regards,
Sriram SL
