In my listing, the composition trumps the rendition, in the sense that it is not one particular person's rendition that rocks my boat, so to say! Another way of saying it is that the lyrical and musical beauty of these compositions do it for me.
Ravi - If you listen to the "real" annapurne played by Kalpagam mami, it will jump to the top of your list :)

But the 'tone' makes the difference--kApi the optimist, pIlu the pessimist? I don't know about the stoic :)

I still can't locate the sAma krithi :( But here is a small consolation - angArakamAShrayAmi (which has been mentioned by several rasikas).....noticeably different than the concert version.

This is a difficult one, but here goes:

Adamodi Galade - Charukesi, especially Santhanam's version.
Alaipayuthey - Kaanada, Oothukadu Venkatasubbayyar. Brilliant composition in one of the most pleasant ragas.
Akhilandeshwari Rakshamaam - Dikshitar's use of Dwijavanti is superb, and love the way Santhanam sings it
AnnapurnE Vishalakshi - Dikshitar's mellifluous composition in Shyama. Couldn't get enough of this song at one point.
Aparadhi Nanalla, Aparadha Enadalla - Revati. Memorable kriti in a grim, holy ragam.
Ashaindhadum Mayil - Simhendramadhyamam, by OV. Memorable and I have a sentimental attachment to this composition. My mother loves it.
Anandaamrutakarshini - Dikshitar's Amrutavarshini. Beautiful to the very end.

Very difficult, and I may give a completely different list if asked next week. Here goes:

Top 5 (in no particular order):

Akshaya Linga Vibho - Sankarabharanam - Misra Chapu - Dikshithar [TMK and KVN] - What a majestic krithi, especially the section playing on 'ksha' prasa.
Amba Kamakshi - Yadukulakambhoji - Misra Chapu - Syama Sastri [TMK and RKM] - Needs no introduction.
Angarakam - Surati - Rupakam - Dikshithar [MDR] - Mangalam Kambugalam - Dikshithar and MDR's genius combined in every line.
Abhimanamennadu - Begada - Adi - Patnam Subrahmanya Iyer [RK (of course) and Voleti] - One of the best compositions in Begada, with a chittaswaram to die for. RK's is of course the gold standard, but Voleti's is a very close second.
Ananda Natana Prakasam - Kedaram - Misra Chapu - Dikshithar [MDR] - Once again, needs no introduction.

Honourable mentions:
Aliveni - Kurinji - Misra Chapu - Swati Tirunal [MSS]
Anandeswarena - Anandabhairavi - Misra Chapu - Dikshithar [DKP and TMK]
Anandamritakarshini - Amritavarshini - Adi - Dikshithar [DKJ and BMK]
Anuragamuleni - Saraswati - Rupakam - Tyagaraja [Malladi Brothers and MMI]
A Balagopalamu - Amritavarshini - Adi - BMK [BMK]
Aragimpave - Thodi - Rupakam - Tyagaraja [Nedunuri and GNB]
Alarulu Kuriyaga - Sankarabharanam - Adi - Tallapaka Annamacharya [Nedunuri and Malladi Brothers]
Akkaraleni Kapuramaye - Mukhari - Adi - Kshetrayya [Pinakapani]
Arunachalanatham - Saranga - Rupakam - Dikshithar [TMK]
