nattakurinji padavarnam (not P. Sivan's)

Post by Umesh »

Returning to this forum after some time. I am looking for the lyrics and name of the composer for a padavarnam in nattakurinji. It was one of the very first I learned but I have lost touch with the person who taught it to me.

It is not chalamela, swami nan undan, or a Muralidharan composition, to my knowledge. I could not find any reference to it using the search feature of this forum. I learned it some 20-25 years ago, so it is probably an old/obscure varnam.

Pallavi begins (I am writing from memory)... swami nee ennai kanparai jayanti nada
Caranam begins... devadi devane guhane sendhuril thangam
The deity is Muruga. I have not seen it performed anywhere (including YouTube!). Unfortunate, because it is quite a beautiful piece.

Appreciate any leads.
