The sisters gave a vigorous rendition of their family repertoire : pADum paNIyE in KalyANI

R. Sankaranarayanan's tension gripping Mridangam support is particularly notable along with Ghatam Karthik and his virtousity filled playing - trying to match the youngster.Another composition, ‘Pāḍum Paṇiyē’ in the rāga Kalyāṇi, is a prayer to Lord Murugan composed in the format of Saint Tyāgaraja’s Pañcharatnas, with its madhyamakāla charaṇams set to each of the six yatis (mode of rhythmic progression such as expansion, reduction, and so on).
Their verve is reminiscent of how Bhajans use to be accompanied - something that appeals to a Bhajana sampradaya audience!
The taNi is also one of it's kind.
There is a Part 1 and other items beyond - but I just stopped listening after this to savor the rendition.
