Vignesh Ishwar

Post by rajeshnat »

Vignesh is a brilliant vidwan who has learnt from Palghat T.S. Anantharaman Bhagavathar and TM Krishna. Among all TMK disciples i used to like another vidwan for many years but now I see vignesh really as the best of best TMK disciple (They can change). All said Vignesh deserves this long writeup ,certainly the connection with TMK helps. For me Vignesh is an amalgam of a bit of Voleti and Semmangudi, nice strong throw with great ideas well grounded with proven sangathis.

Lovely write up of a fabulous concert I enjoyed listening to. The other part that appealed to me was how the whole performance was very smooth, without any fuss or muss. The highlight was indeed the kAbhOji and the very clearly enunciated lyrics added to the performance enormously. Aa mentioned, Sri RKSK’s accompaniment was brilliant.

As to the author of this piece, I really wish he will come to realize that Sri Jayadeva composed ashTapadi-s (अष्टपदी) and not ashtapati-s (अष्टपती) or ashtapathi as he spells it... no idea if ashTapati is even a word, but if it was, it would mean a polyandrous woman with 8 husbands, perhaps? Nothing to do with the poetic format in which Sri Jayadeva composed... 😝
