Girijashankar Sundaresan

Post by rajeshnat »

Girijashankar Sundaresan shows lot of promise . He is the student of chitraveena ravikiran. Personally heard him only once in Madurai. He and I have some common relative though not directly related . He sings with lot of passion , his voice was initially bit feminish but now over the years he has certainly added lot of masculine gaathram.

Whatever I heard of him ,he reminds me of some jambhavans like say Ramnad Krishnan , KVN and DKJ in descending order . Lot of balance and nidhanam . For those who have not heard him, you can kind of map him quite closely to musicians like say VijaySiva , Prasanna Venkatraman and RamakrishnanMurthy in approach and delivery .

I very recently heard a rare Lalgudi Jayaraman song in saramathi. I did not ever know this song till i heard him sing .

And this one with a visual video of MDR masterpiece. This one reminds me of Sreevalsan Menon to me. What can one say wth this serene composition where he sings with only tambura with no accompaniment.

Best wishes for Girijashankar Sundaresan to be successful in his classical music pursuit.
