Place to go if you want to ask someone identify raga, tala, composer etc or ask for sāhitya (lyrics) or notations or translations.

Carnatic Krithis with the concept of Arishadvargas?

Post by vamsipet »

Any Krithis available with the concept of Arishadvargas (Kaama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Mada & Maatsarya)?

I know "Bantu Reeti" and "Tera Teeyaga Raada" only.

Thank you

In Muthuswami Dikshitar's pahi mAm ratnAcalanAyaka, the caraNam begins:
"sadyOjAta-Adi panca mukha - O one who has five faces, called Sadyojata etc.!
ari-shaD-varga-rahita hRt-sancAra - O one who resides in the hearts bereft of the six (inner) enemies!"

The composer incorporates the rAga mudrA (mukhAri) beautifully and also refers to two numbers contextually - five heads and six internal enemies.
