There is a javali in kalyani (adi?) by Sarangapani. The starting word is something like "chittike." Can someone please provide lyrics+meaning? Also, has anyone come across a website where the song is available for streaming/download? Thanks.

Here is the rough meaning:

Pallavi:

ciTike vEsite nIvanTi
celulu lakshapadivElE

at the snap of my finger one lakh ten thousand damsels will respond

viTukulADi yeDavanukonnAvO (I think it should be yevaDanukonnAvo?)
vENugOpAluDu nA pEru
Oh girl!, I don't think you know you I am, my name is vENugOpAla

caraNam:

1. andagattevanucu valacinanduke
alami kougiTanu jErcEvA

Since I loved you because of your beauty, will you embrace me?

gandamaladi virulu siganujuTTi
kappura bAgAliccEvA

will you anoint sandal paste, put flowers in your hair and will you give me bits of camphor (as in a tambulam)?

bandaru (bangaru?) kammalu gadalaga rAgamu
pADi vINevAyincEvA

as your gold earrings dangle, will you sing a raga and play the vINa?

mandemELamuna yEmATADaka
dandanatO proddulubuccEvA ||

or will you stay quiet and spend the night quarreling with me?

2. sarige payiTa dikkuna tolaginci
canulu anTaniccEvA
aramara sEyaka cakkera kemmO-
vAnanicci lAlincEvA
maruni bhayamu nIkenduku valadani
manasudelisi naDipincEvA
tariyidigAdu yinTikirammani
talupu mUsi gaDevEyincEvA||

The second charanam is a little high on the SRngara side. The general meaning goes this way... will you let me touch you or will you close your door on me?

3. celuvarAya nAsAmiga rammani
cekkulu nokki muddiccEvA
Will you pamper me and kiss me?

molakanavvuloluka sArasAreku
mOmu mOmunanu jErcEvA||
Will you bring your smiling face close to my face frequently ?

4. kalanu kalisinadi nijamouTaku nanu
gaDiya ratula taniyincEvA
kaladulEdanucu nijamuga nAtO
paliki yipuDu selavippincEvA||

Will you make my dreams come true and give me pleasure or will you just sweet talk to me and make me go away?

Umesh,

This is such an amusing jAvaLI...(Thanks for the translation Sishya)...a nice one for a male dancer to perform!

A good respose to this jAvaLI will be 'nIla vaNNa kaNNane unadu eNNamellAm nAn aRivEn, kaNNA en kaiyai toDAdE'

Ravi, indeed!

Shishya, much thanks. As taught by Kalanidhi mami, the lyrics in the 1st charanam are interpreted as Krsna talking about another man whom the girl hugged and and applied sandal paste. He gave her earrings so she sang, played the vinai, etc. for him. Is this interpretation correct also?
