Would appreciate a translation of the deep message behind these lines :
chadar ho gayi bahut purani
ab to soch samajh abhimani ||
ajab julaha chadar bini
sut karam ki tani
surati nirati ki bharana dini
ab sabke man mani ||
Shanka mati jaan diye apne
hai yeh wastu viraani
kahe kabir ye raakh yatan se
fir nahi haathan aani
Chadar ho gayi bahut purani - Kabir

Re: Chadar ho gayi bahut purani - Kabir
Here is my trial..
The literal meaning refers to a shawl here, but in deeper terms, Kabir ji is indicating towards this human birth/body.
chadar ho gayi bahut purani
ab to soch samajh abhimani ||
The shawl(cAdar) has become (hogayi) very(bahut) old(purAnI), at least now (ab to) try to elaborate your thinking(soch) and understand(samajh), O egoistic soul(abhimAnI).
[The deeper meaning - O mind! Give it a thought now, this human body has become old, at least try to understand now. Give up your ego!]
ajab julaha chadar bini
sut karam ki tani
surati nirati ki bharana dini
ab sabke man mani ||
An extraordinary(ajab) weaver(julAhA) has weaved(bInI) this shawl(cAdar), by stretching(tAnI) the threads(sUt) of one's actions(karam). Now (ab) everyone(sabke) uses it at their will(man mAnI)
[Here the Supreme Lord is compared to be a weaver who gives us various births(in this case, human birth),happiness and sorrows according to our previous actions. The human birth is one of the rarest gifts from the Lord which one does not use appropriately i.e. in the service of the Supreme]
{I do not understand the third line}
Shanka mati jaan diye apne
hai yeh wastu viraani
kahe kabir ye raakh yatan se
fir nahi haathan aani
Do not(mati) doubt(shankA) this oppurtunity, this (yeh) is a unique(virAnI) asset(wastu). The poet kabIr says(kahat) that maintain(rAkh) this asset with all efforts(yatan se), for once you loose it, you will not (nahi) have it your hands (hAthan AnI) again (fir).
[the indication here is that do not spent too much time in doubt and decision, try and do some good and use your human birth intelligently. For once the life ends, you cannot regain the time!]
I hope this helps...
I cannot undertsand a few words. Shyama, If you dont mind giving me the source to the song, i can figure out the words.

Krishnaa, I listened to another version (Ashwini Bhide and Anup Jalota) but just found this one below -- a much clearer rendition - Lyrics given above need correction with this version, so please do the needful.

Shyama, so Sorry for the delay!
There is a line which i missed out: surati nirati ka bharanA dini
ajab julaha chadar bini
sut karam ki tani
surati nirati ki bharana dini
ab sabke man mani ||
An extraordinary(ajab) weaver(julAhA) has weaved(bInI) this shawl(cAdar), by stretching(tAnI) the vertical threads(sUt) of one's actions(karam) and the horizontal threads (bharanA) of destiny (surati nirati). Now (ab) everyone(sabke) uses it at their will(man mAnI).
i.e. This human body is a combination of past karmas and destiny.
I think there is something to be done in the last paragraph too but I am not very clear. Will ask help from elders.

Oh Lord! Thanks for acknowledging me so heavily!

I am really sorry to hold this for soooo long.
But You know shyama, the audio is not uploading fully! Can you please check it. I just want to confirm the first line of the last paragaraph. It makes sense as i have translated it but I do think something is missing or wrong...
