thanks @ganeshkant and @srikant1987.

They performed Kalpanaswaram for Track 2 - Kanakangi, Ragam, Niraval and Swaram for 3 - Bhairavi, Outline raga and kalpanaswaram for track 5 - Nagaswaravali and had Ragam, Swaram and Thani for track 7 in Navaneetham. Tried editing the info on the main post also to this effect but could not do the same now..

Have you given any thought to renaming "Keyboard" to something more Indian similar to the "mohan veena" for example? May help overcome some deep seated biases!

@sureshvv - tks n it is indeed a great suggestion. In fact Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt ji informally told us to name it as Vidwat Veena ! Its probably time to give a serious thought! H/ever do not know if that would start working!

interesting and hope we get a good name. Dinamalar Journalist - Rasigapriya, had used the term "Isai Alagu Kattai" in Tamil.

Incidentally, any idea of the other names considered for Violin when it was introduced to Carnatic Music?

tkb,
Would like to hear Satya's kanakAngi and navanItham and other items too, if possible.

isai Alagu kaTTai?? Is it iSaiyAl Agu kaTTai? I prefer VK's palagai (board) to kaTTai.iSaiyAlAgu palagai??
Then again, as PB says, they did not look for a native name for violin (fiddle)when it made its appearance. Also, do we need a new name in tamizh when many tamizh expressions are mixed with English, any way? Call a spade a spade. Shorter the name, easier it is to say it.. Key board is the shortest name so far! There!

@arasi - thanks for the interest shown and the links are as below:

1. KanakAngi - http://www.esnips.com/displayimage.php?pid=33284567

2. Navaneetham - http://www.esnips.com/displayimage.php?pid=33287146

You can log on to http://www.esnips.com/thumbnails.php?album=4555183 to listen to other tracks also.

Regarding the name for the instrument i also feel Keyboard, as it stands, it has taken a long long years to just to get to the gate of AIR to get the lead instrument status! Still not yet got into the minds of organizations & rasikas in a big way! Lets keep going and on the way if we can get a suitable name we shall tag it along! Long way to go!! Hope keyboard artists will sustain the journey!
