Svanubhava, an annual festival conducted by Matrka and YACM for students of Classical Arts, is running again this August. The last two years have been tremendous successes and feedback has been great. This year, the line-up includes many new additions, discussions about music & humor in films, plays, inclusion of arts, and much more.

This event is spread over a span of 6 days (August 2nd-7th, 2010). Svanubhava is organised in association with the 6 institutions in Chennai– Kalakshetra, The Adyar Government Music College, The Music Academy, Harishri Vidyalayam, PSBB KK Nagar and Vidya Mandir. The event is for the students, by the students.

I tried both IE and Firefox. Music was stuttering. Did you have to tweak any setting? I have DSL 3Mbps and I don't have issues streaming from other sites. I am using latest version of Flash.

It was a bit on and off for me too. I did not tweak anything. I did not try last night but the previous nights there have been periods like an hour where it was problem free but then it will act up a bit. I especially enjoyed the Koothu and the Panchavadyam players. Reception was also good for Priya sisters, E. Gayathri and the quattro amrita/nisha/master bmk/prasanna. Unfortunately not so during Smt. Rajam's violin. But on the whole, a great effort by Svanubhava at Live Web cast of this program. They showed it can be done. There was the added challenge of the venue changing everyday.

It is great to see the kids' enthusiastic participation. The Q&A after each program, I think, net-net, is a good idea. A lot of good information was exchanged during that session. I wished TMK would not thrust himself that much of himself between the Q and the A and give more freedom during that time ( he is such a control freak ) but he was a good MC over all in keeping the pace going. I should acknowledge that his interactions with the kids were just right. May be he comes off rough only when dealing with adults..ha..ha.... The kids were not afraid of him of course and in some cases try to crowd him out but he had to take a kind but strong stand. I think the kids related to Priya sisters a lot. There was this huge clamor for asking them questions and TMK had to cut them off since it was well past lunch time and so asked them to write down the questions and he would get the answers.

Thanks. Yesterday was a write off. I waited till about 11pm, nothing happened.

It was real challenge to webcast from 5 venues in six days. The streaming was decided on the night before the festival to do this.

The two programmes we were not able to webcast were N.Rajam ( we did steam the last 20 minutes ) and the hyderabad brothers concert. Otherwise most of it went well. We also had people from different parts of the world sending us messages on whether they were receiving it fine. We thank them for their inputs. Sometimes bandwidth on your end would also affected the quality of what you received. Thank you all for your support.

I caught a bit of the panca vAdyam and tried at other times, but no luck.
You all have to be congratulated for taking up an ambitious project like this.
Connecting with the kids was the best part of it.
When we were children (ancient times!), the Tea Board came to schools at one time every afternoon, carrying a container of tea and shiny brass tumblers. We looked forward to the break and to some delightful tea too. Such a good PR department at the board, even in those days! Wonder how many thousands of children started being tea drinkers because of that
From another thread, I hear that school children were there when the programs took place in their schools.
It was a good idea put into action by TMK and his team!
