Famous Ghatam player Shri Govindarajan who was playing continuously for Bombay sisters passed away Y'day. Courtesy Hindu dt 08 05 2012. Condolences to all the members of his family.

Condolences to the family, friends and disciples. A very fine self assuming vidwAn, whose vAsippu i always found to be gauravam personified, who probably got lost in the crowd. Sat through many enjoyable concerts featuring him with top mrudanga vidwAns.

Very sad to hear this. Memories remain of having shared stage with Govindarajan Sir several times, including recently at the Dilip Veeraraghavan Memorial concert at Raga Sudha Hall. May his soul rest in peace.

I did not know that Sri Govindarajan was also a Professor of philosophy at AM Jain College.

Thank you Thanjavooran for the news item with the picture. I have heard him play several times.
Did not know he was a professor of philosophy. A loss to the collegiate world in Chennai as well.
